Rest and Restore Protocol

Rest and Restore Protocol is an innovative, neuroscience-based listening therapy designed to help the autonomic nervous system return to a state of calm and balance.

This approach was developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, a world-renowned neuroscientist and the creator of the Polyvagal Theory, together with Anthony Gorry, an expert with over 20 years of experience in music and audio technology.

What is Rest and Restore Protocol™?

The method uses sound-based stimulation to influence the autonomic nervous system.

The acoustic parameters embedded in music, such as rhythms and frequencies, help activate the parasympathetic branch of the autonomic nervous system, which is responsible for relaxation, restoration and emotional regulation.

The process includes listening to unique musical themes, delivered via a special app (iOS / Android).

    How does it work:

The autonomic nervous system shifts between three primary states:

    • Social engagement — I am safe, I can relax and trust
    • Fight / Flight — There is danger nearby, I need to mobilise for action/escape
    • Freeze / Collapse — The threat is inescapable, I need to disconnect to survive

The ventral branch of the vagus nerve activates the state of social engagement. If it works well, we can feel calm and safety. The ability to regulate emotions and return to a state of calmness develops in childhood through warmth, gentle voices, physical contact and emotional attunement from caregivers.

Without such experience, as an adult, a person may get stuck in either fight/flight state (constant anxiety, inability to relax) or a freeze/collapse response (apathy, depression, emotional numbness).

Rest and Restore Protocol uses embedded biological rhythms to activate the social engagement system, where we can feel calm and at ease.

Specifically modified music reproduces sounds and rhythmic stimuli that are similar to those we unconsciously find soothing: a mother's heartbeat, her cooing and singing lullabies to comfort a baby. The autonomic nervous system recognizes them as cues of safety and activates the natural ability to calm down.

During listening the complexity in acoustic parameters gradually increases, which helps to bring the body into harmony across 5 hours.

    Tracking your progress:

After each listening session, you will be prompted to check in with your feelings. This will provide you with a deeper understanding of your progress, emotional responses and shifts during listening to Rest and Restore Protocol™.

    Results

Rest and Restore Protocol™ supports the body's natural ability to heal and restore balance. This leads to a gradual decrease in anxiety and depression, enhances emotional regulation, improves sleep quality, supports gut health and provides greater access to the body and emotions.

As a result, Rest and Restore Protocol™ balances the autonomic nervous system, improving mental and physical well-being.

You will have access to the program for 12 months. You can listen to the protocol as many times as you like.
